You might think that too. But let\u2019s take a second to look at this from a rational and scientifically backed point of view. Let\u2019s take vitamin D for example.<\/p>\n<p>You need about 2,000 IU of vitamin D per day, and one of the highest food sources of vitamin D is herring fish which has 460 IU\u2019s per oz. You\u2019d need 5 oz. of that <strong>DAILY <\/strong>to get your total amount. Are you down to eat 5 oz. of herring per day? Oh, and btw, that\u2019s the <strong>lowest effective dosage <\/strong>and from a health and function perspective. If you\u2019re looking for <strong>optimizing<\/strong> the benefits you can get from Vit D then you\u2019d be looking at the range of 4000-5000 IU\/day! So make it 10-12oz of herring in that case!<\/p>\n<p>Oh let\u2019s say, for arguments sake, that you are ready to eat that much. Now you\u2019re at risk for mercury poisoning. So if you\u2019re against supplements, you\u2019re left with the choice of mercury poisoning, or vitamin D deficiency\u2026pick your poison.<\/p>\n<p>Enter supplements. Take a few tiny vitamin D softgels at the right dosage and you\u2019re covered for the week.<\/p>\n<p>But now comes another issue\u2026<\/p>\n<p>How your mom thinks you take supplements:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-673\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebastianfitnesssolutions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Snorting-Creatine.jpg\" alt=\"snorting-creatine\" width=\"400\" height=\"249\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A lot of people are misinformed of the dangers of supplements. And this shouldn\u2019t always be the case. Knowledge is power and when it comes to supplements, this holds especially true. And not only when it comes to your family either.<\/p>\n<p>What your non-lifting friends think of supplements:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-676 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebastianfitnesssolutions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Injecting-Bicep.jpg\" alt=\"injecting-bicep\" width=\"212\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They see you getting big and it MUST be the supplements you\u2019re taking. Again, knowledge is power. And surely you know your stuff when it comes to supplements right? They\u2019re all the rage and you may take them religiously every day to help guarantee that you get the most gains possible. But then comes the issue of\u2026<\/p>\n<p>What you think of supplements:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-672\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebastianfitnesssolutions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Pill-Burger.jpg\" alt=\"pill-burger\" width=\"400\" height=\"290\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I used to be guilty of this. Supplements are great, but if you\u2019re treating them like food, then you may want to rethink that. Because at the end of the day, do you know if the supplement that you\u2019re taking is dangerous? The only way you can start to really understand supplements is with the proper knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>The world of supplements is HUGE with so many different kinds with so many different purposes. Some may be VERY dangerous while others, completely safe. Every day many people take supplements that are deemed safe, when actually, they may be causing SERIOUS damage due to unethical practices by some supplement companies. But how do you know which companies are doing this? What exactly are they doing to make the supplements so dangerous? And how can you have a heads up on all of this to keep you safe?<\/p>\n<p>The hard work is already done, I\u2019ve made a video showing you the world of supplements from my perspective.
